Buruj CEO Lauds LSFA, NLO, Urges Endorsement of Multi-Club Stadium Ownership Plans
The Chief Executive Officer of Buruj FC, Salaudeen Waheed Buruj, has lauded the Chairman of the Lagos State Football Association, Hadji Gafar Liameed, for his continued contributions to grassroots football development in the state, while also calling for institutional backing for a proposed joint stadium ownership model among clubs.
He also hail The Nationwide League One, NLO Chief Operating Officer COO Sola Ogunowo for the deligent work the NLO has been over the years in giving platforms to budding talents and their general contribution to the Nigeria Football development landscape .
Buruj made this known while addressing newsmen after a meeting of Nigeria Nationwide League One (NLO) club owners held at the Lagos FA secretariat on Thursday, where discussions centred on modalities for the commencement of the 2026 season.
In his remarks, the Buruj FC boss commended Liameed, who is also the founder of 36 Lion FC, for his sustained efforts in nurturing young talents and strengthening football structures in Lagos.
“I must sincerely commend the Chairman of the Lagos State Football Association, Hadji Gafar Liameed, for his outstanding commitment to football development in the state. His investment in youth football through 36 Lion FC and his leadership at the FA level have continued to inspire many of us in the game. Achievements like his show what is possible when passion meets structure and vision,” Buruj said.
Beyond the commendation, Buruj urged the Lagos FA to support his proposal for a collaborative stadium ownership initiative, which he believes will address the persistent shortage of standard playing facilities in the state.
“I strongly believe this joint ownership plan will go a long way in solving the shortage of stadia in Lagos. What we need now is for the FA to bring like minds together—club owners, investors, and key stakeholders—to sit at the table and work out a practical framework for its implementation,” he stated.
He further revealed that financial backing for such a project is not out of reach, stressing that interested institutions are already willing to partner once the plan receives official endorsement.
“We already have willing financial institutions that are ready to support this kind of initiative. What they require is proper structuring, as well as official recommendation and endorsement from the Lagos State FA. With that in place, it becomes easier to unlock funding, ensure transparency, and deliver a standard facility that can serve multiple clubs,” Buruj added.
Buruj reiterated that collaboration remains the most viable path forward, especially with the increasing number of clubs in Lagos and the limited availability of quality playing venues.
He maintained that with strong institutional support and collective investment, the proposed model could significantly improve infrastructure, enhance league organisation, and drive long-term sustainability in grassroots football.
